I knew Jews weren’t too keen on Jewish-born converts to Christianity (putting it quite mildly!). And I’ve been aware for years of a big push for Jews to return to Israel. I suppose it just never occurred to me to put the two together, let alone consider any possible fallout!
Little did I know
that Jewish officials were denying citizenship to Jews that had returned to their homeland! Not only that, they were being harassed along with Christian workers in Israel.
With both sides fighting the battle all the way to Israel’s Supreme Court, it was finally established that Messianic Jews … are Jews.
“With the multitude of Jewish people simply walking away from their Jewish identity and assimilating through secularism and intermarriage, Israelis don’t need to fear Messianic Jews,” Sibley said. “As they themselves should know, Jewish believers in Jesus not only affirm their Jewishness, they insist on it.
